Can I mount a flat-screen HDTV vertically?
I'm looking to replace a conference room projector with a 1080p 52" HDTV. Almost all of what we view on it are websites designed for a 1024x768 screen. If I mount the TV normally, I can get those pixels using 1386x768 resolution, but a fair amount of screen space would be wasted. I'd really like to run it at 1920x1080, but rotate the screen 90 degrees, so we'd get all the width but much greater height.
Can I wall-mount a 52" LCD or plasma TV that way? Even better, is there a rotating mount I can use, so we could switch between landscape and portrait? I haven't come across anything like that yet.
I know my video card supports it, as we already have a rotating 24" screen hooked up to the computer. I'm more concerned about whether there are any physical issues with mounting vertically--i.e., is it going to put undue stress on the back of the TV?
Most videocards support rotation through menus, and i've seen it a lot for smaller LCDs, do i'm sure it's possible.
